What I take away from this

I have followed matches in the V.League long enough to know that an argument rarely ends with the person criticised. It ends with the clause that let the thing happen. A good referee is not one who never errs — it is one who forces the law to question itself.

The Ballon d'Or needs a step Vietnamese football once took back when I was still in a newsroom: publish the criteria in writing, with an order of priority and worked examples. How much weight does team silverware carry? When does the performance window open and close? How is a World Cup edition weighted? Only when those numbers are written down do fans have grounds to judge — and only then do candidates run out of convenient readings.

Mbappé will keep talking. The media will keep calling it a contradiction. And I will keep my professional position: people see the red card; I see the clause that was drafted in too much of a hurry.
